Brent and Shelley Weeks
Today we pray for Brent and Shelley Weeks who work with Reach Beyond to transmit shortwave and radio broadcasts to tell listeners in the Asia Pacific region about Jesus. Brent and Shelley live in Melbourne and are sent by SonSet Solutions Canada. We join them in prayer and praise for the following items:
Prayer for new teaching series to a persecuted people group:
We recently received a new teaching series on the book of Job in the language of an unreached, persecuted people group of Myanmar. Shelley’s adjusting the shortwave broadcast schedule to begin airing this series on the 15th of August. She’s also editing the programs to even out audio levels as well as adding opening, closing, music and sound effects. Pray that people would tune into these broadcasts, and be encouraged to turn to Jesus in the midst of their hardships. Through a partner in Myanmar, we recently distributed radios to give more people the opportunity to listen.
Pray for new outreach to Farsi speakers
Brent recently met with an Iranian pastor who is leading a project to start an online streaming service to reach out to Farsi speakers in Australia and around the world, producing and using content that engages with listeners who don’t know Jesus. They would like to use a Reach Beyond studio for their audio production. Brent is working through the administrative, scheduling and technical details to make this possible. Please pray for the team of Farsi speakers coming together to launch this new form of radio.
Pray for Shelley’s health
Shelley’s medical journey of diagnosis and treatment of IIH (Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension) continues. Please pray for effective treatment as she sees and gets input from multiple specialists.
Celebrations of God’s faithfulness
We thank God for his faithfulness - on the 18th of August, we celebrate our 31st wedding anniversary, and August also marks 21 years serving with Reach Beyond as missionaries in Ecuador, then Australia.
