This week we pray for Daniel & Sandi McDougall who minister to international students at UVic - leading them to discover Jesus through the Word of God, and preparing them to serve God wherever He leads them. Daniel and Sandi are part of our Lambrick “family”. We join them in remembering the following praise and prayer points.

Praise:

  1. We dearly miss some of our student and faculty friends in person but we've managed to remain remarkably connected even though distanced.
  2. Although Zoom and other protocols are less than ideal, we've been sparked to some creative ideas.  A couple of weeks ago, Sandi met online with several of our international friends now strewn literally around the globe.  But instead of merely gathering as 'talking heads' on a screen they gathered in their respective kitchens with their Zoom feeds and made dumplings 'together'.  I'm always spiritually heartened by just how rich Godward conversations can happen over food prep.  This said, we can't wait until we can actually eat together in person once again.
  3. I am especially grateful for Lambrick's staff team and Scott's leadership.  Our Wednesday staff meetings have a marked tone of noticing, caring and praying for one another and the larger congregation, instead of being primarily agenda-driven with a short prayer tacked on at the end.  The ministry work and logistics are being well-handled by Lambrick's staff in their various roles BUT there is an overriding shepherding vibe that is quite helpful these days.

Prayer:

  1. My now-30-month struggle with vertigo and its attending fatigue as each day wears on has been challenging.  I'm not at all depressed but simply feeling a bit discouraged, although the various medical specialists have been quite encouraging about my prognosis for the days ahead.  I can't wait!
  2. As always during Covid restrictions and lack of real-life connectivity with students, we're often wondering just who is 'falling through the cracks' and finding themselves financially, relationally, vocationally and spiritually desperate.  For us it's been a special journey of trusting God's providence and care because we're often unable to even notice these 'casualties'.
