Today we pray for our project in the Sasiga Mid-Highlands in Ethiopia. We have been partnering with Food for the Hungry (FH) in Sasiga since 2005 and continue to work with community and church leaders to improve the lives and living conditions of the community members.

One of the primary activities we have supported  has been to increase the number of clean water sources. Recently FH developed three springs by capping the water sources and installing pumps to protect the water from contaminants (like animal dung). This provided another 150 families with clean water to reduce waterborne diseases. Another 13 wells are in progress and will be completed before the end of the year. We thank God for these projects that so impact the lives of the people.

They have begun construction on a new primary school in one community and provided desks, chairs, and tables to another school.  Child sponsorship support provided stationery materials like exercise books, pens, and pencils to children who would otherwise not have the resources to participate in classwork. It also covered school fees for children whose families are under financial strain. We are thankful for the many families in Lambrick who are the sponsors of Sasiga children and pray for more people to become involved in this way.

The Sasiga communities are far from the conflict in Ethiopia’s northern Tigray region, but FH Ethiopia has positive connections across the entire nation and is partnering with local and international organizations to provide practical support to Ethiopians fleeing violence. We thank God that over half a million people have already been helped and join in prayer for peace and stability to return to the country. !
