Our missions prayer today is for Mahima Homes in Kolkata, India which provides aftercare for minors who were trafficked in the sex trade and other survivors.

We continue to pray for the team as they process the passing of Smita Singh who was the founder of Mahima homes, and had visited Lambrick a few times sharing her vision and mission. Subsequently, the wife of one of the leaders of the organization in India which sponsors Mahima has also died due to Covid-19. We remember these folk who are grieving.

We join the Mahima community in praise for the appointment of Sutapa Chaterjee as Smita’s replacement as Associate Director of Mahima Homes. Sutapa was born and raised in Kolkata has extensive leadership experience in caregiving ministries as well as the corporate world.

We also give thanks for the progress on the new home now under construction to provide a Restorative Care Home (for minor girl survivors between ages 12 and 18) and a transitional Home (for girls graduating out of the minor program and adult survivors). The home will be named in honour of Smita Singh.

Last May a cyclone which devastated West Bengal caused extensive damage to the Mahima Permanand Boys’ Home. Through the generosity of Canadian donors, the majority of the repairs have now been completed. We praise God for his faithfulness to Mahima Homes.
