Our Missions partner that we are praying for this week is Mahima Homes in Kolkata, India. Mahima offers safety and security to girls and children rescued out of abusive circumstances, helps to restore and heal their broken lives, and ensures they are mainstreamed with dignity.
Mahima provides after care facilities for survivors, awareness and prevention to counter sex trafficking and child sexual abuse, a drop in centre for children and women, and training and capacity building to enhance the the skills and knowledge of partner organizations and stakeholders.
We join them in prayer for the following items:
Thanksgiving for the establishment of “Friends of Mahima” in the United States – an organization with tax exempt status to assist in fundraising for Mahima.
Thanks for the purchase of a property in Sonagachi, the largest red-light area in Kolkata, possibly in Asia – to be used as an open shelter for children of sex workers – Ashaneer! ‘Asha’ means ‘Hope’ and ‘Neer’ means ‘Sacred water’ or ‘Nest'. Either way, it’s an apt name for the place. Pray that we obtain the licence and can start operations soon.
Pray for approval of licenses for two Women's and Children's Institutions - Premanand and Umeed Homes.
