The Mustard Seed

Today we pray for our local Missions Partner - the Mustard Seed who ministers to downtown Victoria people in need, providing a Food Bank and Food Security Distribution Centre, Lunches and Hospitality, Family Centre and the Mustard Seed Coffee Co. They also have a Street Church. 

Here are some prayer requests from The Mustard Seed for their ministry and congregation:

• for overall growth in the congregation, especially among those in the Street Community -- the people we serve. Please pray that the Spirit of the Lord will move so that they will come to our Sunday services and be touched by the Word of God.
• Please pray that our services, from the music to the sermons to the times of prayer, will bless and edify those who come.
• Please pray for ongoing training and Christian formation programs in the Sanctuary. Currently, we have three programs on offer:
  • Brave Space -- a women's peer support group
  • Freedom Sessions (starting Oct. 11)
  • Bible study -- taking up the foundation Scripture for the following Sunday's message (starting Oct. 13)
• We need volunteers!
  • In the kitchen, any day of the week
  • Christmas dinner, to be held Saturday, December 10 from Noon until 3pm
  • for the Agape meal, served every Saturday
• Musicians: We would love to have some more side-people -- bass, drums and keyboards (which I would relinquish reluctantly) and additional singers.
• We are in the process of upgrading our livestreaming capabilities. Please pray for that project and for a volunteer to step forward as a switcher.
• We have connected with 50 churches so far in the Victoria area. Please pray for more opportunities for bridge-building.

We also pray for a new project - to provide showers for people in the Street Community. The plans are to remodel the existing public washroom at the Mustard Seed on Queens Avenue, to allow for four shower stalls (one of which would be accessible).

• The prayer request here is for:
  • the resources - both to build the project and to staff it once it's operating
  • skilled tradespeople to volunteer for the renovations.
