Kelly is passionate about teaching counselling and empowering her students to use their newfound skills to help others. She believes in the equality of all persons and the provision of good clinical care for each client that she sees. She holds a master’s degree in Counselling from Providence University and Seminary in Canada, and has over 15 years of experience working as a therapist.
Celo Gahaya, Kelly’s husband, is the Director of Marketing and Strategic Planning for Lighthouse. He also has his own multi-media company, and implemented an online radio station from their home, so they were able to continue teaching their students through the Covid-19 pandemic.
The mission of Lighthouse is to provide quality professional counselling and training, empowering and equipping individuals, families, and organizations. According to Partners in Health, one in every four Rwandans suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder and nearly one in every six adults suffers from depression. Lighthouse has been able to offer courses in dealing with trauma, and believe in restoring emotional wellness and rebuilding relational and personal difficulties in the lives of their clients and students.
Lighthouse also works to equip and train local leaders - Kelly teaches a six-month applied counselling course and offers community workshops on mental health.
For Lighthouse to grow and become financially sustainable on its own, and for growth of partnerships and an increase in counselling staff.
Please join them in prayer as they continue to search for and hand over to the right leaders for the minstry to flourish.
