Russ Jones

“I am a CPA (chartered professional accountant) for over 42 years and am the Deputy Auditor General for the Province of BC, where I have worked the last 40 years. I am married to Marilyn, and we have two adult children, Jacqui and Chris and three grandsons. I have been involved in the life and ministry of Lambrick Park church since 1997.

I was raised in a Christian home in a small town in southern Ontario where I attended the United church until my late teens. Once I left for university and the pursuit of my career in the accounting profession, I put my spiritual life on hold. Marilyn and I moved to Victoria in 1978, where we have raised our family and first started going to Lambrick in 1981. While Marilyn was attending full time and our children went to Sunday School, my attendance was more sporadic.

After a number of years of searching for God, my son took me to an evening service at the Place where Randy Hein and James Prette were the pastors. Their teaching renewed my hunger and desire to better understand the gospel and how to translate and relate the Gospel in the continually changing context and language of today’s culture. Since then, I have endeavoured to honor and share the gospel of Jesus throughout the community and my workplace.

Marilyn and I have been married for 42 years. Marilyn since joining Lambrick, has been involved in church activities such as music, counting and most recently has joined the council of Wiseways. I have been involved in running the AV for the evening services at the Place until the Place moved to another location and then at Lambrick morning services. I have also served on the Finance Committee for the past 20 years.

We are both excited about the opportunity God has put in my path to serve as an elder. We have seen LPC go through many seasons of change and are very excited about the current season the church is in – one of continued renewal and a welcoming and embracing church to the community.”
